For residents outside of Canada and the USA a non refundable deposit is collected at the time of booking with the remaining amount payable on arrival. In the event of a cancellation the deposit remains non refundable

Loss Damage waiver and theft protection is not included in this rate and is the renters responsibility to ensure the vehicle is covered in the event of an accident or theft
All inclusive rates provide the renter and authorized drivers up to an aggregate, single limit of CAD 1,000,000 for claims that may by made by others against the renter and authorized drivers for bodily injury, death and/or property damage arising out of the use or operation of our rental vehicle.
Under Age 25
In the United States and Canada, many car rental companies do not rent to drivers under age 25 because of the additional costs and risks associated with younger drivers. National will rent to drivers under age 25 and we assess an underage daily fee to offset our additional related expenses.
- Underage drivers must show a valid driver's license
- A daily underage fee will be charged for each driver under 25 years of age
- National has a standard minimum age requirement of 21 years of age.
International (The below in italics DOES NOT include USA & CAN Residents)
CDW – Collision Damage Waiver
All inclusive rates include CDW, which contractually waives or limits the renter’s liability for damage to or loss of the vehicle.
The deductibles for rentals at National corporately owned locations are as follows:
25 and older age group – The responsibility of the customer is up to the first CAD 300 of damage to the vehicle.
21 – 24 age group – The responsibility of the customer is up to the first CAD 500 damage to the vehicle.
Driving on unpaved roads voids Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) coverage.
In all provinces an underage fee of CAD 25.00 per day, per driver will apply for renters and additional drivers aged between twenty-one and twenty-four (21-24), unless otherwise stated. This fee is paid locally by the renter at the time of rental. All drivers must possess a valid driver’s license, major credit card, and a prepaid voucher.
Unless included in the tour product, a full tank of gas will be purchased at the time of rental. The service is convenient because the renter does not have to worry about taking time to stop and refuel before returning.
Vehicles can be driven in any province in Canada but must be returned to the location from which they were rented or drop-off charges will apply. Vehicles may not be driven into Mexico. Vehicles are allowed One Ways between provinces. No One Way rentals are allowed into the United States. Driving on road that are not government maintained voids the contract and the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) coverage. The customer will be fully responsible to any damage done to the car, up to full value.
Driving License requirement
Full and Valid Driver’s Licence from country of origin, Passport and credit card in renters name.
One Way rentals
All one way rentals must be booked in advance and are subject to availability. One way rentals are restricted to rentals between National Canadian locations. Drop-off charges may apply and are payable at time of rental. One way for Luxury Vehicles are on request.
Credit Cards – National accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express.
If a customer extends the rental any time after the vehicle has been picked up from the rental location, regardless if an additional voucher is presented, a fee of $10.99 CAD per day will be charged in addition to the applicable rates. This fee will be payable by the customer.
If a prepaid customer returns a vehicle prior to the end of the reserved period, no credit will be given for the unused portion of the vouchered rental period.
Fees of CAD 8.00 per day, per infant seat with a CAD 50.00 deposit. Infant seats should be requested at time of reservation. In the event the infant seat is not returned at the end of the rental, a fee will be charged to the renter.
- Infant Seat : birth up to 20lbs (9.07kgs)
- Child Seat : up to 40lbs (18.14kgs) or 4 years of age
- Booster Seat : 40-80lbs (18.14 – 36.29kgs) or 2-10 years of age.
SEATBELTS and CHILD RESTRAINT SEATS
Provincial laws require the use of seatbelts and child restraint seats. Seatbelts and child restraint seats can save lives. We urge you to use them. To avoid serious injury or even death, use child restraint seats only in the back seat of the vehicle. Older children who do not use child restraint seats should ride properly buckled-up in the back seat. Child restraint seats should be requested at time of reservation.
Roof racks – Mini Vans and Sport Utility Vehicles, may come equipped with Roof Racked or Ski racks, please request at time of booking if available. Only available at Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal.
“Winterized” cars - Cars can be “winterized”. A “winterized” car includes a snow brush/ice scraper, a block heater (select locations), and a ski rack. Request at the time of reservation. Ski Racks are CAD $7.50 per day.
Maps - Maps of the local area are available, free of charge.
An additional fee of CAD 11.00 per day plus taxes, per additional driver will be charged, except where already included in the rate or provincial law provides otherwise. Additional drivers must present a valid license and credit card in their name at the time of rental
Pay Locally Surcharges and Fees
Unless otherwise stated, rates do not include any Government (Federal, Province, County or City) imposed or authorized taxes or fees, or any airport fees or airport concession recoupment fees which may apply and are the responsibility of the renter.
Rates may not include a Customer Facility Charge (CFC) and / or Homeland Security Fee (HSF) which is payable, where applicable, by customer at time of rental.
Legislation or regulations or the cost of fuel may affect National’s pricing or procedures. On all inclusive products, National reserves the right, without notice, to (i) charge customers, at the time of rental or thereafter, for the amount of any additional or increased surcharges, fees, taxes or increased fuel costs incurred subsequent to entering into this Agreement, or (ii) increase Client’s tax, surcharge or fuel inclusive rates by an amount equivalent to the additional or increased tax, surcharge, or fuel cost subsequent to entering into this Agreement.
Rental terms, conditions and prices are subject to change without notice and may vary by location.
Please note that mileage restrictions apply at a small number of our locations. These are Jasper (100 free), Brockville (200 free), London (300 free), London Airport (300 free), Whitehorse and Whitehorse Airport (both 200 free). Additional distances are charged per mile and are paid for locally at the time of rental. Prices differ per branch and per vehicle. Please enquire at the location for more information.
We will not charge for reservations cancelled 7 days or more before your pick up time. If you cancel your booking after this time, the following charges apply:
• If you cancel your booking less than 7 days before pick up time, you will be charged either the full cost of your booking or up to a maximum of £20 whichever is the lesser.
• If you cancel your booking less than 24 hours before your pick up time, you will be charged either the full cost of your booking or up to a maximum of £50, whichever is the lesser.
In the event of a cancellation, your credit card will be refunded, less the above charge.
If you fail to collect your car on the specified pick up date, we reserves the right to charge a no show fee of either the cost of the booking or up to a maximum of £50, whichever is the lesser. In the event of a no show, your credit card will be refunded, less the no show charge.
Unused Rental Days
Please note that any unused rental days on prepaid reservations are non-refundable.
Terms of booking on this website
The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.
When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable.
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
